Starting on Monday, Jan. 22, Somers Point Road will shut down between Steelmanville Road and English Creek Avenue, Egg Harbor Township police said. The closure is expected to last for "approximately one year."

That stretch of road is about two miles long, according to Google Maps.

Police say a detour will be used to provide access to local homes and businesses.
